This below outlines the coaching process, responsibilites and expectations of both the coach and the client.
What is Coaching?
The purpose of coaching is to facilitate you to gain clarity around your goals, and to work towards achieveing them. As a coach I can work with you in both a personal and a professional developmental process. Coaching is flexible and driven by you as the client. Coaches are not engaged to provide you with the answers, their aim is to support you to find them within yourself. Coaching is concerned with the notion of ‘flourishing’ and is not, and should not be used as a form of therapy.
Coach’s Credentials
I am a qualified positive psychology coach having gained my diploma in positive psychology coaching with the Andy Ramage training academy in June 2025. During the course I was supervised and supported by highly experienced, qualified and accredited coaches and continue to be required to abide at all times with the Association of Coaching and their ethics. My skills are built upon twenty years professional experience working in various supportive roles within social care; Mental Health, Trauma, Homelessness and social prescribing.
Introduction Session
Before the coaching can begin, we will have an initial conversation about what to expect of the coaching process and for me to understand what you would like to get from it. It is important at this point for us to agree that we can work collaboratively and that I am the right person, and this is the right time and place for you to proceed with coaching.
We will also spend some time discussing your expectations of me in my role as your coach.
Coaching sessions
These will be arranged at a time and date of mutual convenience and can be conducted face-to-face, over a video platform (Zoom). Meetings will be for 45 minutes- one hour unless otherwise specified.
We will start by addressing what it is you want to get out of the sessions and may take some time to break this down to a workable goal. It is not uncommon for a range of goals to be identified and worked on across a series of coaching sessions. Regular check-ins and updates about any set goals will be made, but it is important to understand that you direct the travel of the sessions.
The core of the sessions will evolve around me asking you questions and you exploring ideas, developing understanding, gaining new perspectives, setting action plans and reviewing progress. Any feedback I give you or suggestions I make, will be done so on the basis of getting your permission first.
Your responsibilities
To attend sessions with an idea of what you would like to work on, and with any updates and progress made. Being open and curious in the sessions will allow for the best outcome, as will allowing me to respectfully challenge any self-limiting attitudes or behaviours I observe. The more you put in, the more you will get out!
My Commitment
I agree to be ready to work with you at the time agreed and to be fully focussed on you during our session. I will be open-minded, non-judgemental, considerate and respectful and will ensure I have carried out any necessary preparation work to the best of my ability. I also undertake to provide support through careful listening, considered questioning and where appropriate, with challenge. There may be occasions when certain tasks might be suggested for you to do outside of the session, to further aid your development and progress towards goals.
I agree to maintain the ethics and standards of behaviour of the Association for Coaching Code of Ethics and to seek regular supervision from the staff at the Andy Ramage Training Academy
Fees
I offer 2 options for coaching.

Confidentiality
Whatever is discussed in the coaching session will remain confidential to that setting, within the parameters of client risk. Any developmental reflective work conducted by the coach, will exclude any identifying features.
Open Feedback
Part of the coaching relationship is for both parties to provide feedback. If you would like to provide me with any such comments, positive or negative then please feel free to do so. This is especially the case if you have found any part of the process particularly helpful or unhelpful.
Cancellation
Where cancellation of the session is unavoidable, please try to give as much notice as possible and ideally twenty-four hours in advance. The session can then be rearranged to another mutually convenient time. If at any time you wish to stop the sessions, please simply inform me.
